Together for Joy

“Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy.”

Psalm 98:8

Our goal is 150 people giving something by Dec. 31, with 100 by Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1. Every giver is a voice in the song.

What your gift does

We’re a multiracial church. We want to divest from a white evangelicalism that flattens diversity and invest in worship as diverse as our congregation. Together, we hope to raise $15,000 to begin funding a half-time worship pastor. A church that sings together needs someone to help us find the song.

The congregation stands and sings as the worship team leads a Sunday service at DC Bilingual.

Who we are

The Table is an LGBTQIA+ affirming church in Washington, DC, that started with 12 people in 2013. We follow Jesus, who shows us what God is like, and because of him we work against racism, call people of every gender to lead, and welcome LGBTQIA+ people with no asterisks.

Why a song

Psalm 98 pictures all of creation praising God, each part in its own voice. Every gift adds a voice, whatever the amount.

The ring is “Joy to the World,” Isaac Watts’ paraphrase of Psalm 98. Each note fills in as a giver adds their voice, and the 150th voice finishes the song.

If you’re ever in DC, come sing with us Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at 33 Riggs Road NE, inside DC Bilingual, or watch live online (opens in a new tab) at the same time.
